  • What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practiced for over 2,000 years. It involves inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to restore balance and promote natural healing. According to Chinese medicine, health depends on the smooth flow of Qi (vital energy) through pathways called meridians. When Qi is blocked or out of balance, illness can occur. By stimulating key points along these meridians, acupuncture helps regulate the flow of Qi, supporting the body’s ability to heal. It is commonly used for treating pain, menstrual issues, emotional health, allergies, skin conditions, and more.
  • Before Your Session: What to Expect
Eat a light meal: Avoid coming on an empty stomach to prevent feeling lightheaded. Avoid heavy exercise: It’s best to refrain from intense physical activity prior to your session. Wear loose, comfortable clothing: Sleeves and pant legs that can be easily rolled up are perfect, this allows easy access to the acupuncture points. Turn off or silence your phone: This is your time to recharge and heal without distractions.
  • During Your Session: What to Expect
Communicate openly: Let your acupuncturist know if you experience any discomfort or have questions during the session. Relax and stay still: Staying calm and still allows the treatment to work at its best. You might feel a gentle buzz or tingling—that’s your body waking up and responding. Don’t worry, the results can be truly amazing! Notice subtle sensations: You may feel a gentle movement of energy(Qi), which indicates your body is responding and healing. Breathe deeply: Focus on slow, deep breaths to promote relaxation and healing. Try to sleep: This enhances the experience.
  • After Your Session: What to Expect
Acupuncture results vary, and most patients feel relief after each session. The outcome may differ depending on how long you’ve had the condition. A personalized treatment plan will help you see improvement over time. The majority of patients feel relief after the treatment. However, some may experience mild side effects like soreness, fatigue, or bruising, which typically resolve within a day. It’s best to refrain from intense physical activity for at least 24 hours to allow your body to recover. Stay hydrated, and if you have concerns, contact our acupuncturist.
  • How long is an acupuncture visit?
Each visit typically lasts around 60 minutes. The duration of each visit may vary based on the acupuncturist’s assessment.
  • How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments depends on the condition’s nature, severity, and how long it has been present. Most patients start with 1–2 sessions per week, and many notice improvement within 4 to 6 treatments. Chronic or complex conditions may require a longer course of care. Our acupuncturist will recommend a personalized plan based on your specific needs.
  • Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is a safe treatment when performed by a licensed practitioner. Acupuncture uses sterile needles to promote healing and well-being. It is a safe, trusted method with thousands of years of practice. There is a small chance of bleeding, tenderness or bruising (especially for those who take blood thinners).
  • Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture uses very fine needles, much smaller than standard injections, so it's nothing like receiving an injection. Some may experience mild sensations like tingling, warmth, or a feeling of energy moving along the body’s channels. Many find the treatment deeply relaxing.
